Staff Proposed DRAFT changes to the Short-term Rental Ordinance
The Inyo County Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance allowing for the short-term rental of residential dwellings in the Zoning Districts of:
One Family Residential (R1), Single Residence and Mobile Home Combined (RMH), Rural Residential (RR), Rural Residential Starlite Estates (RR- Starlite), and the Open Space Zone (OS).

The Planning Department has prepared a report for the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission looking at the status of Short-Term Rentals in Inyo County, a year after we started accepting applications. The Report, the Agenda Request Form for the Board, a copy of the PowerPoint Presentation to the Board, and the Staff Report for the Planning Commission are included here:

The Planning Department Began Taking Applications for Short-Term Rentals on April 20, 2018.
To operate a hosted or non-hosted short-term rental you will need to apply to the Planning Department. You can use the main application form, which you can access at the "Applications Dowload" link on the left side of this page. You will also need to register with the Inyo County Treasurer Tax Collector to collect and pay Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), this will be required as part of your application materials. If you have questions regarding the TOT please contact the Treasurer Tax Collector's office at: 760-878-0312.
